Encourage Creativity with Amazing Crafts for Kids

It’s back to school time and for those of you with children in the preschool and primary school age groups, your kids will be getting plenty of positive stimulation in their educational settings. It is also great fun to do after-school and weekend projects with them at home. Especially when it is too rainy to go outside, arts and crafts projects can be an excellent way to encourage creativity. Crafts also inspire family togetherness, and are an excellent alternative to excessive TV and computer screen time.

Creative play comes naturally and is what children do when they are just being kids, and there are plenty of things you can do to boost their imaginations when they are home. Whether it is drawing, painting, cutting, pasting, modelling or making, all children love being creative if they are given the chance—and the act of being creative brings with it SO many benefits!

The possibilities are literally endless and the rewards many, such as improving your child’s fine motor skills and sharpening problem-solving abilities, but most importantly, making their own crafts boosts their self-esteem and everyone involved has fun! All of the Helen Doron English programmes feature crafts, creativity and fun!

To get some great idea, have a look at the Helen Doron English Pinterest board, under the topic of Crafts for Kids! There you will find a carefully selected, virtual library of hundreds of arts and crafts projects for all ages, and you are sure to find something there to get you and your children excited about working on a project together to use at home or give to friends or family as a gift. For example, everyone in the family could make their own “Facepot” and plant fragrant herbs or flowers in them.

Another fun idea that young kids love is to make their own play-dough from household ingredients and dye it their favourite colours, and you feel good as you know it is non-toxic.
And how about this brilliantly coloured, edible slime that will keep them entertained for hours? When you finish your crafts project, send us a picture with your name, your children’s names and where you live, and we would be happy to post it on Facebook with your permission!

Learning made fun is a core component of the Helen Doron English methodology. Find out more.
